A little history...
Construction of the castle
A building in the classical Mosan style located in the north of the Champagne-Ardenne region and whose construction dates back to the 18th century, the Château de Wallerand was initially the residence of Lord Etienne Gillot d'Hon.
A new decoration
In the middle of the 19th century, the castle was bought by Baron Sibuet. Prosper Joseph Sibuet was a State Councillor and Deputy of the Ardennes from 1863 to 1870 and General Councillor of the Givet canton under Napoleon III.
Return to the forges
With the approach of the Great War, Baron Sibuet's daughter, Countess de Villermont, decided to sell the castle to the Société des Forges de Vireux-Molhain. The Director of the time was given luxurious accommodation.
A period of transition
Until 2013, the castle was owned by the Syndicat Intercommunal des Deux Vireux. The purpose of this syndicate is the socio-cultural and sporting development of Vireux-Molhain and Vireux-Wallerand.
Purchase of the castle
For its three hundredth anniversary, the Château de Wallerand has a new owner. It was immediately clear that the building needed major renovation. A major period of work begins.
